City of Fort St. John – “Let’s Talk” Public Engagement System

City-Logo-PantoneLate in 2016 we were asked by the City of Fort St. John to build a public engagement system for promoting their ongoing public consultations and projects. With a short timeline to get from needs assessment to delivery of final product, we were able to build a comprehensive system that utilizes industry-leading tools bolted on to the user-friendly WordPress environment. Some of the features include:

  • attractive design, smoothly integrated with established website look-and-feel.
  • mobile friendly
  • tabbed layout of content, with staff-editable tab titles
  • discussion topics and moderation powered by Disqus.
  • embeddable surveys, comment forms
  • subscribable news blogs for every engagement item.
  • API integration with MailChimp and Google Analytics (for displaying stats).

Peace River Regional District Website Redesign and Advanced Features

PRRD-Logo - FC Gradient-Horizontal Version 2Website Redesign, Content Restructure,
Searchable Bylaws, Staff Intranet

In the last couple of years, we’ve been busy helping the Peace River Regional District refresh their website and internal communications strategy. In addition to converting their existing static (non-database-driven) website to a modern database-driven WordPress website, we also helped plan and execute a top-to-bottom content review so that the new website’s content would be as fresh as the new design. In order to provide information that is easy to find and navigate, we custom built two major features: a searchable bylaws system, and a public engagement section.

We also built a staff intranet for internal communications to help enhance workflow productivity and efficiency, while also cultivating deeper professional and personal interaction amongst the employees. Features included news feeds, an online staff bulletin board, quick access to tools and resources, and central contacts directory. We also integrated with the PRRD’s existing Active Directory user management system for easy logging in for all staff.

Tourism Fort St. John Website Development and Digital Kiosks

We tapknowgo_logowere excited when Tourism Fort St. John selected us as their developer for their new web-based initiative. We worked with local designer Karen Thierson at designsbyindigo.ca to collaborate on the production of the website, digital kiosks, and pop-up banners that provide residents and travellers information about what to do, where to eat, and where to stay in the Fort. St. John area.

Since the website was launched, we’ve helped Tourism Fort St. John launch several remotely-managed digital kiosks throughout the city at hotels, events venues, as well as the Fort St. John Airport.

District of Hudson’s Hope Online Campground Reservation System

hhopeIn 2013, we were honoured to helped the District of Hudson’s Hope with the redevelopment of their website. Then in 2014, we helped provide another solution by developing a whole new way for District staff to manage their four campgrounds.cameron-lake

In addition to designing great looking campground maps, we facilitated an integration with the Victoria-based Checkfront.com service that provides campers the opportunity to view photos of each campground stall and their respective availability for the night of their choice.

Cameron Lake Site 3On the ground, campground staff manage the reservations and payments (online and in-person) from a hand-held iPad in real-time. Check out the campground reservation system and be sure to reserve your next campout!
